During the planning stages for 80+1, we envisioned the topic of markets to span, compare, and contrast the micro-credit stories emerging from less industrialized nations with novel methods of understanding world economy. We still plan to, but much has changed in the past year, and our exploration of markets will confront the difficult and volatile issues of the global economic crisis.
How Wikipedia around the World defines Market (add your language)
English: A market is any one of a variety of different systems, institutions, procedures, social relations and infrastructures whereby persons trade, and goods and services are exchanged, forming part of the economy.
Spanish: The market in economics is any set of transactions, agreements or exchanges of goods and services between buyers and sellers.
Chinese (市場): Markets is the denomination of places where people went in former time at fixed times in order to exchange goods; these places of exchange emerged, in order to reduce the costs of searching for the consumer.
German: The word »market« (latin: mercatus, commerce, merx: good) in the narrower sense of the word means a place where goods are traded or exchanged on a regular basis (market place).
